Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic KS2 Teaching Assistant! Step Teachers are working with a primary school in Barking and Dagenham to find a KS2 Teaching Assistant to support pupils from Years 4 & 5. As a KS2 Teaching Assistant, you will be key in helping children stay engaged and focused and supporting their learning journey. This role is set to begin in September 2025.

KS2 Teaching Assistant - Role:

  • Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.
  • Provide students one-on-one and small group support, ensuring they stay engaged and on task.
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Support students with varying abilities and learning needs, including those with special educational needs.
  • Act as a positive role model for students, promoting appropriate behaviour and social skills.

KS2 Teaching Assistant - Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a KS2 Teaching Assistant is essential.
  • Strong administrative and organisational abilities are crucial.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with staff and students.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of the school environment.
  • Experience with Down syndrome, autism, ADHD, etc. is required.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) is desirable but not essential.
  • SEND experience is essential.
