Year 1 Teaching Assistant (Full Time)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a reputable mainstream primary school in Skelmersdale, West Lancashire. This is a full-time opportunity supporting pupils within a Year 1 classroom, with a focus on delivering targeted support in phonics, literacy and numeracy through small-group interventions and classroom-based learning activities.

The role is due to commence on 1st December 2026, or as soon as possible, and is contracted until 31st December 2027 to provide maternity leave cover.

The Role

As a valued member of the school team, you will:

• Support teaching and learning within a Year 1 classroom.
• Deliver small-group interventions in phonics, literacy and numeracy.
• Assist pupils in developing confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Work closely with the class teacher to support pupil progress and attainment.

Essential Requirements
