Job summary

Teach Now in London invites applications for a KS1 Teacher at a welcoming Merton primary school. You will lead a KS1 class, plan engaging lessons across phonics, reading and maths, and help pupils progress in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

The role is full-time and permanent from September 2026, with Inner London pay scale (M1–UPS3). You will join a supportive team, have opportunities for professional development and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Qualifications

  • QTS is required and KS1 experience or strong placement for ECTs.
  • Secure understanding of KS1 curriculum and assessment.
  • Strong classroom management and a warm teaching style.
  • Commitment to inclusion and safeguarding.
  • Ability to plan engaging lessons for diverse learning needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply.

Location: Merton, London

Salary: £37,870 - £56,154 (M1 - UPS3). Salary will reflect experience and qualifications in line with the Outer London Teachers' Pay Scale.

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Start Date: 1 September 2026

Phase: Primary – KS1

The Role

As a KS1 Teacher, you will take responsibility for a Key Stage 1 class, delivering engaging lessons that support pupils’ progress in phonics, reading, writing, maths and the wider curriculum. You will create a nurturing classroom environment where children are encouraged to participate, ask questions and develop a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality KS1 lessons across the primary curriculum.
  • Support strong progress in phonics, early reading, writing and maths.
  • Use assessment to identify gaps, plan next steps and adapt learning.
  • Create a calm, positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work effectively with teaching assistants and phase colleagues.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and carers.
  • Contribute to year-group planning and the wider life of the school.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status, QTS.
  • Experience teaching in KS1 or strong placement experience for ECTs.
  • Secure understanding of the KS1 curriculum and effective assessment practice.
  • Strong classroom management and a warm, encouraging teaching style.
  • Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and raising standards.
  • Ability to plan engaging lessons that meet a range of learning needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
