Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a Year 1 Teaching Assistant to support two SEND pupils and assist with a smooth move from EYFS to Year 1 at a village school in Warton (PR4).

This maternity cover role runs Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30, term-time only, starting ASAP. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, deliver speech and language interventions, engage with Forest School outdoor learning, and work with the SENDCo to monitor pupil progress, requiring a Level 2 TA or equivalent and

Qualifications

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent Early Years / SEND qualification.
• Experience with children transitioning from EYFS to Key Stage 1 or Reception/Year 1.
• SEND expertise: ASD and Speech & Language needs.
• Attributes: warm, patient, proactive, nurturing, inclusive education.
• Vetting: Enhanced DBS (Update Service) mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to two SEND pupils to access Year 1 curriculum.
• Implement focus strategies to maintain ASD pupil engagement.
• Deliver speech and language interventions and communication support.
• Assist with smooth transition of 21 pupils from EYFS to Year 1.
• Engage with outdoor Forest School sessions and nature-based learning.
• Collaborate with class teacher and SENDCo to monitor and report pupil progress.
