Job summary

Medeshamstede Academy is seeking a Learning Assistant to join our team, with a focus on supporting Key Stage 1 pupils. Experience with young children and nursery settings is valued.

You will work alongside the Class Teacher on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, assisting pupils with additional needs including ASD, developing trusting relationships and ensuring safeguarding. Qualifications

• Good understanding of supporting children with additional needs, specifically ASD.
• You can demonstrate you can develop trusting relationships, be caring, flexible and an excellent communicator.
• A relevant NVQ or equivalent is advantageous.
• Previous experience in a special school or SEND experience and knowledge of pastoral interventions, safeguarding, social and emotional and communication support for pupils is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the Class Teacher to promote learning and development.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
• Support children with additional needs, including where physical intervention is required.
