Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a talented Kotlin Developer for a contract role in Sheffield. The position is hybrid, requiring around two on-site days per week, and involves building and sustaining Kotlin/Java back-end platforms, APIs, and microservices.

You will collaborate across engineering and product teams, contribute to modern cloud-ready architectures, and participate in Agile ceremonies to ensure high-quality software delivery. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Kotlin, or significant Java development experience with a desire to learn Kotlin.
• Experience in API Development and/or SQL/Database Technologies.
• Experience designing and developing microservices in cloud-ready architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Kotlin and Java-based applications and APIs.
• Build and enhance microservices within a modern cloud-ready architecture.
• Collaborate with developers, testers, product owners, and stakeholders.
• Deliver high-quality backend functionality, with occasional front-end contributions.
• Work directly with users and customers to resolve issues and implement feature requests.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and delivery.
• Perform code reviews and support automated testing initiatives.
• Contribute to a CI/CD culture focused on rapid, high-quality software delivery.
