Job summary

Macfarlanes LLP is seeking a Knowledge and Information Assistant to join the Innovation & AI department on a part-time basis in London. You will support knowledge management, AI-enabled curation, and the firm’s library and information services, including intranet maintenance and research support.

You will collaborate with Partners and Knowledge Lawyers, helping to optimize AI-driven processes and ensure accurate, accessible information resources across the firm.

Qualifications

• An undergraduate degree or equivalent higher education.
• Qualification in Information/Library Science or currently studying.
• Organised, meticulous and methodical approach with high attention to detail.
• Some experience using AI tools.
• Awareness of metadata, taxonomies and knowledge graphs for data classification.
• Team player with initiative and proactive problem-solving.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge Management: keep intranet content up to date and support editors to optimise browse, search and AI.
• Create and update intranet pages and team sites on CMS platforms.
• Monitor content and taxonomies in knowledge systems; report discrepancies.
• Contribute to improving AI-driven classification rules and workflows; QA features.
• Deliver training, inductions and clear user guides to drive engagement.
• Library & Information Services: maintain tidy libraries and archive; manage circulation and loans.
• Maintain online library system records; assist with journal requests and press alerts.
