Job description

The Private Client Knowledge Development Lawyer role sits within the Knowledge Management team and supports stakeholders across Private Client to progress a effective knowledge-sharing culture. This opportunity can be considered on either a full-time or part-time basis (4 days a week).

Overview

Ranked as a top tier firm with STEP Platinum Employer Partner accreditation, our private client team is award-winning and highly regarded. The Knowledge Development Lawyer will work closely with the Private Client senior leadership team to develop practice and sector-specific knowledge and to disseminate updates and training on changes to legislation, procedure and case law.

Responsibilities
  • Know-How Support and Development: advise the Private Client leadership team, keep abreast of changes in law, procedure and case law, and disseminate updates through training and materials.
  • Supporting fee earners with technical legal know-how, tactical advice and practical application of the law to matters.
  • Developing and maintaining team know-how resources (precedents, checklists) reflecting best practice and legal changes.
  • Business Development & Client Services: support BD initiatives, contribute to articles, case studies, briefings and client materials, and collaborate with intermediaries to share knowledge.
  • Research on competitors and market offerings to aid client delivery and new opportunities; assist with legal directories submissions.
  • Internal Training: identify training priorities, deliver sessions on changes to law, and support ongoing professional development and STEP accreditation goals.
  • Innovation/Business Efficiency: identify legal tech needs, standardise documents via precedents and clause banks, and support document automation.
  • Other duties as required to support knowledge management and private client teams across all brands.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience as a Private Client Knowledge Development Lawyer/PSL or as a proactive Private Client lawyer seeking a transition to a Knowledge Lawyer/PSL role.
  • 8+ years PQE at a reputable firm with a strong interest in knowledge management; previous Knowledge Lawyer/PSL experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Technical experience handling high-quality private client work including trusts; solid understanding of knowledge management.
  • Full STEP membership or working toward it is desirable.
  • Ability to analyse and communicate complex issues clearly to internal and external clients; strong drafting and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and enthusiasm for business development; client training experience.
  • IT literate with experience of MS Office, SharePoint or similar platforms; interest/experience in legal tech including document automation, AI tools, e-signatures and extranet sites.
  • Highly organised with sound judgment, pro-active, and able to progress tasks independently; ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and build stakeholder relationships.
  • Comfort working within a virtual team; ability to connect between different business units.
