Job summary

CMS UK is seeking a Knowledge Counsel / Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) to support our Planning practice on major development and energy projects across the UK. The role offers a blend of advisory and fee-earning work, with a strong emphasis on knowledge management, precedents, and research.

You will join a Band 1 team in Legal 500, based around Manchester, with hybrid working, excellent training, and a pathway to leadership in innovation and AI-enabled knowledge support for planning teams.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with practising certificate.
• Experience in planning practice and UK planning law.
• Strong research and advisory capabilities.
• Commercial awareness with focus on innovation.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge Management – collecting and maintaining knowledge for the planning team.
• Precedents and Styles – drafting and updating templates and precedents.
• Research and advisory work – supporting the team’s client work.
• Training – development, oversight and delivery.
