Job summary

Staffline is recruiting for a Knife-hand/Cutter role at our Grimsby sites, responsible for trimming fish and preparing seafood products to customer specs.

Roles run Monday to Friday with shifts from 6am–2pm or 2pm–10pm. Training rate £12.71/hr, post-training £13.96/hr, with temp-to-perm opportunities and onsite amenities like a canteen and car park.

Qualifications

• Experience or ability to trim fish to spec.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to work shift pattern including early mornings.
• Ability to read and follow product specs.

Responsibilities

• Use trained skills to trim fish to set specifications, minimising waste and improving yield.
• Follow knife safety practices to minimise risk of cuts.
• Handle and package products in line with all food safety standards.
• Maintain a clean and tidy working area following GMPs.
• Complete tasks efficiently to reduce waste and downtime and report issues to management.
• Work flexibly to support all areas of the business as needed.

Job description

A great opportunity to work as a Knife-hand/Cutter at our clients two sites in Grimsby house cutting edge facilities, with teams responsibly sourcing and processing salmon, whitefish and crustaceans, from around the world.

The hours of work are: Monday to Friday

• 6am to 2pm
• 2pm to 10pm

The rate of pay is:

• Training: £12.71 per hour
• Post Training: £13.96 per hour

Your Time at Work

• Use trained skills to complete all tasks assigned by a member of the management team and ensure that quality, food safe products are produced for customers
• Using a knife to trim fish to a variety of differing specification requirements in a manner that minimises waste and improves yield
• Using appropriate knife safety at all times to ensure risk of cuts and lacerations is minimised to self and others
• Handle and package products in accordance with all relevant food safety standards
• To follow good manufacturing practices to ensure the working area is kept clean and tidy at all times
• Complete tasks as efficiently as possible in order to reduce waste and downtime and maximise yields and profits reporting all issues to a member of the management team

• Ability to read, recall and trim to set standard specifications across multiple products and customers
• Ability to complete repetitive movement of hands, fingers and wrists for averaging 8-10 hours daily

• Often working in damp and wet conditions

Experience in similar role desirable, but not essential
