Job summary

Sodexo Ltd is seeking a skilled Catering Chef/Cook to prepare, cook and serve high-quality food in line with company processes and hygiene standards. You will follow approved recipes and menus to ensure consistency and portion control, while supporting a smooth catering service with SCP colleagues.

The role requires attention to detail, compliance with health and safety regulations, and effective use of digital systems to support a modern catering operation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar service-industry role.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and standard procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standards precisely.
• Customer-facing experience is desirable.
• Experience working in a military environment is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve food in line with approved recipes and standards.
• Maintain high quality, presentation, portion control and food safety at all times.
• Monitor and record food waste and temperatures for compliance.
• Keep kitchen clean, safe and compliant.
• Use digital systems to support service delivery.
• Follow procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, and handling food.
• Complete opening, closing and handover procedures.
• Maintain professional relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Attend required trainings, meetings and briefings.
• Report hazards, incidents or equipment faults promptly.
• Work across all areas of the site as directed by management.
• Opportunities to work high-standard functions, including annual Summer and Christmas balls.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Catering Chef/Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality food in line with company processes, systems, and hygiene standards.

You will follow approved recipe cards and menu cycles to ensure consistency, quality, and portion control, while supporting a smooth and efficient catering service in collaboration with Service Catering Personnel (SCP).

This role requires strong attention to detail, compliance with food safety and health & safety regulations, and effective use of digital systems to support a modern catering operation

What you’ll do:

• Prepare, cook, and serve food in line with approved recipes, menu cycles, and company standards
• Maintain high standards of quality, presentation, portion control, and food safety at all times
• Monitor and record food waste and temperatures in line with compliance requirements
• Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen environment
• Use digital systems effectively to support service delivery
• Follow correct procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, and handling food items
• Complete opening, closing, and handover procedures as required
• Maintain professional relationships with customers and colleagues
• Attend required training, meetings, and briefings

• Experience in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level
• One of the following qualifications (or equivalent):
• BSc (Catering)
• MHCIM
• HND
• City & Guilds 706/1 and 2
• NVQ Level 2 or 3
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standards precisely
• Experience working within a military environment
• Experience in a customer-facing role
