Job summary

Somerset Larder in Bridgwater is hiring a kitchen assistant to support chefs in food preparation and cooking, handle deliveries, and help with cleaning and safety compliance. You will work as part of a team in a central production kitchen, with a focus on hygiene and efficient operations.

The ideal candidate will have Level 2 Food Safety (desirable) and a willingness to learn, with flexible hours and a collaborative, positive attitude.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Food Safety Qualification (Desirable)
• Level 2 H & S Qualification (Desirable)
• First Aid Certificate (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Assist Chef in the preparation and cooking of food.
• Clean equipment, crockery and cutlery as required.
• Take delivery of stock including food/provision, checking and accounting for such items.
• Act as Banksman, and other such job specific operations as required.
• Support cleaning, periodic cleaning and deep cleaning as required.
• Ensure all food is handled in accordance with the Food Safety & Quality Management System.
• Carry out tasks in the most efficient manner.
• Participate as a HACCP Team member if required.
• Ensure work complies with relevant H&S legislation and Codes of Practice.
• Participate in development and training as needed.
