Mercure Manchester Norton Grange Hotel and Spa is seeking a Kitchen Porter to support our busy kitchen. You will help keep crockery, equipment and the washing areas clean, and assist with stock management while following hygiene standards. The role is based at the Rochdale area and operates on a zero-hours contract.
Accessibility to the Rochdale location is essential. This role offers a practical entry point into hotel operations with on-site training and a positive team environment.
The 4-star Mercure Manchester Norton Grange Hotel and Spa is set in tranquil countryside and its own landscaped grounds. Situated 8 miles from the city centre, this Manchester hotel has 81 contemporary guest rooms, each with wireless internet and satellite TV. The dining options include the elegant Grange Restaurant, or the less formal Pickwick Bistro. The hotel has a spa facility, with an indoor heated pool, fitness room and massage treatments. The function rooms welcome up to 220 guests.
Kitchen Porter Overview of duties
Contributes to guest satisfaction and safety by respecting hygiene standards and procedures
Cleans and maintains crockery, equipment and the kitchens
Ensures everything is tidy during the washing process and in storage
Manages separation of dirty and clean items
Cleans and tidies crockery and kitchen equipment
Ensures the kitchens are kept clean
Checks the washing equipment is in good working order and informs his/her superior of any problems or anomalies
Respects the supplier's instructions for use of washing-up products
Do the inventory of washing-up products and lets the supervisor know when stocks are expected to run out
Organises the washing-up area and tidies crockery and equipment in the storage area to avoid breakages
Helps manage stocks of crockery and appliances, by informing his/her superior of any abnormal losses or breakages
Ensures that the workplace remains clean and tidy and always respects the HACCP regulations
Respects the instructions and safety guidelines for the equipment used
Applies the hotel's security regulations (in case of fire etc)
Respects the hotel's commitments to the "Environment Charter" (saving energy, recycling, sorting waste etc)
Reports to the Head Chef
Accessible to anyone motivated to work in this sector, without any particular requirements in terms of training or previous experience
