Job summary

Houston & Hawkes is seeking a reliable Kitchen Porter to join our team at a busy site in Newbury. This role supports chefs, maintains a clean and well-organised kitchen, and handles washing up, deliveries, and basic food preparation when required.

You will work as part of a friendly and professional team to ensure smooth daily operations, with a Monday to Friday schedule at 40 hours per week and a wage of £13.45 per hour.

• Experience as Kitchen Porter or in catering is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Keep the kitchen, wash-up and back-of-house areas clean, organised and ready for service.
• Operate dishwashing equipment and ensure crockery, cutlery, utensils and kitchen equipment are cleaned efficiently.
• Support chefs with basic food preparation when required.
• Receive and organise deliveries, ensuring items are stored correctly.
• Keep kitchen equipment, surfaces and storage areas maintained to a high standard.
• Assist with stock movement and general kitchen organisation.
• Support the kitchen team during breakfast and lunch service.
• Ensure waste and recycling are managed correctly.
• Work closely with the chefs and wider catering team to support a smooth daily operation.
• Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and health and safety standards at all times.

Houston & Hawkes is looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team at an exciting site in Newbury. This is an important role within our kitchen, supporting our chefs and helping to ensure the operation runs smoothly throughout the day.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in keeping a kitchen clean, organised and ready for service. You’ll work as part of a friendly and professional team, supporting with washing up, deliveries, kitchen organisation and basic food preparation when required.

THE ROLE
