Job summary

Bupa is hiring a Kitchen Porter for Cromwell Hospital in London. You will maintain cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen, assist chefs, and support food safety and stock management in a busy environment.

The role offers a full-time permanent contract (40 hours per week) with shift patterns across weekdays and weekends. Competitive salary plus excellent benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Wash, clean and sanitise crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen utensils.
• Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment in line with guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness across kitchen areas, floors, storage and waste zones.
• Support chefs with basic food preparation tasks when required.
• Receive and store deliveries with proper stock rotation.
• Manage waste disposal following procedures and environmental standards.
• Complete cleaning schedules and records accurately and on time.
• Ensure equipment and utensils are cleaned and stored properly.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and report shortages promptly.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene and infection prevention procedures.
• Report hazards, incidents or equipment faults immediately.
• Work collaboratively to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

How You'll Help Us Make Health Happen

As a Kitchen Porter, you will support the delivery of a high-quality food service by maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation throughout the kitchen operation. Working closely with chefs and the wider catering team, you’ll help ensure a safe, efficient and compliant working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Wash, clean and sanitise crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen utensils efficiently.
• Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment in accordance with company guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness across all kitchen areas, including floors, storage areas and waste zones.
• Support chefs with basic food preparation tasks when required.
• Receive and store deliveries safely, ensuring correct stock rotation and storage practices.
• Manage waste disposal in line with company procedures and environmental standards.
• Complete cleaning schedules and records accurately and on time.
• Ensure all equipment and utensils are cleaned and stored correctly.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and report shortages promptly.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene and infection prevention procedures.
• Report hazards, incidents or equipment faults immediately.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen operation.

Desirable

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or within a similar catering environment.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.
• Food Safety Level 2 qualification.
