Job summary

Bupa's Wingham Court Care Home in Claygate is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen team, ensuring meals are plated with care and residents feel at home. You will liaise between the kitchen and residents, assist with food preparation, and maintain cleanliness and stock rotation.

We value a passion for food and a commitment to high hygiene standards. This bank/relief role offers varied shifts, support from a friendly team, and opportunities to participate in events and celebrations

Qualifications

• Experience working in a kitchen or food service
• Holder of a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
• Demonstrates commitment to high food hygiene standards

Responsibilities

• Act as the link between the main kitchen and residents
• Assist chefs with plating meals and preparing food trolleys
• Keep preparation areas clean and tidy and monitor stock rotation
• Follow COSHH and HACCP guidelines and assist with event catering

You’ll help us make health happen by: Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents Assisting the chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and ensure all preparation areas are kept clean and tidy Monitoring stock rotation, complying to company policies and procedures following all mandatory COSHH and HACPP guidelines Assisting with catering for special events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. You want to deliver an excellent service at each meal and make our residents feel at home. You’ll understand the importance of maintaining high standards in and around the home, ensuring our residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience. Working with the wider kitchen and care home teams - you’re comfortable communicating with others, cherishing the little moments with our residents.
