Job summary

BaxterStorey is seeking a Kitchen Porter in Edinburgh to support a well‑oiled kitchen operation. You will maintain cleanliness, assist with basic prep, and help keep equipment in good working order in a fast paced environment.

We value stamina, attention to detail, and strong teamwork as part of our inclusive culture. Training and development are offered to help you grow within the hospitality industry.

Qualifications

• No formal education is required; high school diploma or equivalent may be preferred.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Dishwashing – Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using industrial dishwashers.
• Kitchen cleanliness – Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, countertops, and food preparation areas; manage waste disposal.
• Food preparation – Assist chefs with basic tasks like peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients.
• Inventory management – Assist in receiving, storing, and organising kitchen supplies and ingredients.
• Compliance with Health and Safety – maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen.

Job Description

• Dishwashing – Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using industrial dishwashers

• Food Preparation – Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients
• Inventory Management – Assist in receiving, storing, and organising kitchen supplies and ingredients
• Compliance with Health and safety – maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen ensuring equipment is in good working order
