Job summary

The Lion Inn, Boreham, Chelmsford, Essex is seeking a Kitchen Porter to support our busy kitchen team. You will help keep the kitchen clean, assist with deliveries, and support chefs with basic food preparation, gaining hands-on experience in a respected hospitality venue.

No prior kitchen experience is required as full training is provided; you must comply with hygiene standards, be punctual, and communicate effectively with the team, with opportunities for development in a historic coaching

Qualifications

• Reliable, punctual and willing to learn.
• Ability to follow hygiene and health & safety procedures.
• Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is beneficial but not essential; full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Wash and store kitchen equipment, crockery, cutlery and utensils.
• Keep all kitchen areas clean, tidy and hygienic throughout the day.
• Assist with receiving, checking and storing deliveries.
• Dispose of waste safely and ensure recycling procedures are followed.
• Support chefs with basic food preparation as required.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety.
• Ensure kitchen equipment and workstations are clean and ready for service.
• Work as part of a busy team to help deliver an excellent service

About the Role

As a Kitchen Porter, you'll play a vital role in supporting our kitchen team by ensuring the kitchen remains clean, organised and operating efficiently. You'll help maintain high hygiene standards, assist with deliveries, and support the chefs with basic food preparation when required.
