Parker's Tavern is seeking a Kitchen Porter to support the busy kitchen team at University Arms, Cambridge. You will keep dishwashing flowing, ensure cleanliness of back-of-house areas, and assist chefs with preparatory tasks in a fast-paced setting.

This role requires reliability, flexible hours including evenings/weekends, and a positive team attitude. The position is a full-time, on-site role within a prestigious hotel property.

Qualifications

• Evidence of reliability and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow safety standards.
• Experience in kitchen support roles is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Wash and clean all kitchen equipment, utensils and crockery.
• Keep the Team Member Butler y clean and stocked.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, storerooms and back-of-house spaces.
• Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist chefs with basic food prep tasks when required.
• Handle waste and recycling with correct disposal.
• Assist with deliveries and keep storage areas organised.
• Follow health, hygiene and safety standards at all times.
• Support the wider kitchen team during busy service periods.
• Manual handling may be required and the role is physically demanding.

ABOUT US

University Arms is a 192-bedroom design-led Hotel situated in the heart of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Overlooking Parker’s Piece is the Hotel’s quintessentially British Restaurant and Bar, Parker’s Tavern, Library Lounge, and beautiful 272 square metre wood-panelled Ballroom.

Opened in 1834 as a Coaching Inn, University Arms is Cambridge’s oldest Hotel. For 180 years, the Hotel was added to, updated, and modernised in line with the age; however, it was the reopening in 2018 after a four-year £80m full renovation that really positioned the Hotel. It is now Cambridge's 'go-to ’ destination, alluring visitors with the promise of a sense of modern luxury.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING

As a Kitchen Porter, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, ensuring the kitchens are organised, and supporting chefs with basic tasks. This is a vital role that helps keep the service running efficiently every day.

THE DUTIES

• Wash and clean all kitchen equipment, utensils, and crockery
• Ensure the Team Member Buttery is clean and stocked.
• Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen areas, storerooms, and back-of-house spaces
• Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
• Assist chefs with basic food prep tasks when required
• Remove waste and recycling, ensuring correct disposal
• Keep storage areas organised and assist with deliveries
• Follow health, hygiene, and safety standards at all times
• Support the wider kitchen team during busy service periods
• Manual handling or lifting may be required, and the work is physically demanding.

• Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Are reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Can work well in a team and communicate clearly
• Are physically able to undertake a hands-on, active role
• Can work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Have previous kitchen porter or kitchen experience (preferred but not essential)

PAY

£12.79 per hour plus £1.60 Tronc per hour
