Job summary

LGH Hotels Management Limited is seeking a reliable Kitchen Porter for The Holiday Inn Basildon. You will help keep the kitchen clean, support chefs with basic prep, and ensure safety and hygiene standards are met to enable smooth service.

You will work as part of a kitchen team in a busy hotel environment, contributing to guest dining experiences and maintaining organised kitchen operations behind the scenes. Training is provided, with opportunities to grow within LGH's hotel portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Wash and clean dishes, pots, pans and kitchen equipment thoroughly and efficiently
• Keep kitchen areas clean, tidy and organized during the shift
• Sweep and mop floors, manage waste and recycling responsibly
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling and chopping vegetables
• Receive, check and store deliveries of food and kitchen supplies correctly
• Support kitchen setup and close-down procedures
• Clean cooking equipment and work surfaces to hygiene standards
• Follow all food safety, hygiene and health & safety guidelines
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to support smooth service
• Report maintenance, hygiene or health & safety concerns promptly

Job description

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen team and play an essential role in keeping the kitchen running smoothly, safely and efficiently.

This role is at the heart of the kitchen operation. By maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation, and supporting the chefs with preparation and set‑up, you will help create a calm, efficient environment where the whole team can perform at their best.
Your work behind the scenes will directly support food quality, hygiene and service flow, helping to ensure guests enjoy a positive dining experience. You will be part of a team that values reliability, cooperation and respect, where every contribution matters.

Key Responsibilities
