Role Overview

As the Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of our house menu, food production planning, food purchasing, and stock controls. You will contribute to menu development, ensure the cleanliness and general housekeeping of the kitchen, and implement new policies and procedures as required.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage house menu, food production planning, and purchasing within budgetary constraints.
  2. Oversee cleanliness and general housekeeping of all kitchen areas, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  3. Implement new policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  4. Provide up-to-date reports on progress to senior management.
  5. Communicate effectively with the senior management team and support their leadership.
  6. Manage stock effectively to minimise waste and maintain budgetary targets.
  7. Take leadership of the kitchen team, focusing on development and progression.
  8. Conduct performance reviews and set objectives for team members.
  9. Ensure operational excellence through effective communication and performance management.
  10. Train and develop kitchen staff, ensuring a succession plan is in place.
  11. Liaise with the House Master and Matron, attending food committee meetings and acting upon feedback.
  12. Maintain health and safety standards, including adherence to food safety regulations and checks.
  13. Ensure compliance with company policies regarding uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Person Specification
  1. Excellent culinary skills with experience in a similar role.
  2. Strong communication and leadership skills, able to engage and motivate others.
  3. Business management experience within a kitchen environment.
  4. Passionate about food and delivering excellence.
  5. NVQ Level 3 in professional cookery or equivalent (desirable).
  6. Intermediate food hygiene/Level 3 certification (desirable).
