Job summary

The King Rufus in Chandlers Ford, operated by Greene King, seeks an experienced Kitchen Manager/Head Chef to own the kitchen. Lead from the front, drive great food, oversee stock, waste, and staffing, and ensure top service for diners in a vibrant, family-friendly pub environment.

Ideal candidates have at least two years’ leadership in a branded pub/restaurant, with strong food safety, allergen knowledge and commercial awareness to deliver consistent, high-quality meals and memorable guest

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' experience as Kitchen Manager or Head Chef in a branded pub/restaurant.
• Experience leading a busy kitchen and building a strong team.
• Proven ability to manage stock, ordering, waste, labour and food costs with reporting.

Responsibilities

• Leading from the front to set the standard and support the team during busy services.
• Maintain high food quality, presentation and portion control across a varied menu.
• Coach and develop kitchen staff to grow skills and confidence.
• Own stock, ordering, waste, labour and costs with data-driven decisions.
• Organize rotas, prep and service to handle busy periods in indoor and outdoor dining areas.
• Ensure food safety, allergen management and kitchen compliance.
