Job summary

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is seeking a Kitchen Assistant/Support role to assist with the simple preparation of meals and the setup of dining areas at the on-site catering operation. You will help with washing up, maintaining cleanliness, and following health and safety guidelines under the supervision of the on-site Cook/Manager.

The position requires a Level II Food Hygiene certificate and there is a preference for Welsh language ability.

Qualifications

• Simple preparation of meals and beverages as required by the kitchen procedures.
• Assisting with setting up servery and dining areas.
• Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in kitchen and dining spaces.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals including vegetables, snacks, drinks and ready-made dishes.
• Set up servery counter and serve food with proper portion control.
• Carry and prepare equipment to service area and clean after service.
• Wash crockery, cutlery and utensils; ensure health and safety practices.
• Remove waste and maintain a clean working environment as per schedule.
• Report faulty equipment and health and safety issues to the on-site Manager.
