Job summary

Powys County Council is seeking a catering assistant to assist with preparation, cooking, serving and delivery of meals within council premises. Responsibilities include stock control, meal preparation, and serving meals to meet nutritional and budget guidelines.

The role requires numeracy and literacy, ability to complete paperwork accurately, and awareness of confidentiality. Welsh language skills, a driving licence, and physical capability are desirable.

Qualifications

• Numeracy and literacy skills are essential.
• Ability to complete all paperwork accurately.
• Driving licence and ability to drive a van are desirable.
• IT skills with competent use of e-mail.
• Ability to comply with all levels of confidentiality.
• Oral and written ability in the Welsh language.
• Ability to undertake the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, cooking, serving or delivering of meals in Powys County Council premises.
• Assist with stock control, storage, preparation, cooking, delivering and serving of meals on and off site and cash handling.
• Ensure meals comply with Welsh Government nutritional and budget guidelines and maintain portion control.
• Maintain accurate records as required.
• Assist with menu costing and development.
• Assist in evaluating staffing levels, staff rotas and on-the-job training.
