Job summary

Glenholme Senior Living is seeking a Bank Kitchen Assistant at Wendreth Court, March, to join the kitchen team and help provide nutritious meals for residents, staff, and visitors. Flexible hours are available to cover sickness and service needs.

You will work alongside the Head Chef, ensuring food safety, high standards of quality and presentation, and a home‑cooked approach while supporting a positive dining experience in a care setting.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of COSHH, HACCP, Environmental Health Standards and Regulations, Safer Food Better Business.
• Understanding of food allergies and dietary requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef with food preparation and service.
• Prepare healthy, balanced meals using a home-cooked approach.
• Ensure food is prepared, cooked, and stored hygienically.
• Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
• Assist with portion control and waste minimisation.
• Follow all food safety, COSHH, HACCP, and allergen rules.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas.

Pay Rate: £13 per hour*

Contract Type: Bank – flexible hours, as and when required

The Role

As a Bank Kitchen Assistant, you will work alongside the Head Chef and wider kitchen team to support the preparation and delivery of fresh, wholesome meals for residents, staff, and visitors.

This is a flexible role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a care environment and can provide cover as required.

Job Requirements

• Previous experience working in a kitchen environment is desirable
• A sound knowledge of:

  • Environmental Health Standards and Regulations
  • Safer Food Better Business
  • Food allergies and dietary requirements
• Excellent timekeeping skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work flexibly as part of a team

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Key Responsibilities

As a Kitchen Assistant at Thimbleby Court, you will be responsible for:

• Supporting the Head Chef with food preparation and service

• Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and work areas to a high standard
• Supporting a positive dining experience that reflects Glenholme Senior Living's values and standards of care
