Job summary

Cygnet Cedars in Birmingham is inviting applications for a Kitchen Assistant. Join a dedicated team providing meals to residents across a 23-bed service, with a focus on safety and quality food. This part-time role offers 24 hours per week across three shifts from 7:00am to 3:00pm.

You will assist in preparing balanced meals, maintain kitchen cleanliness, rotate stock, and ensure COSHH compliance. A Food Hygiene certificate and good teamwork are essential. DBS check is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, preferably within a care setting.
• Holder of a food hygiene certificate and high personal hygiene standards.
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member.
• Polite and professional, with a positive attitude at all times.
• Excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels.
• Diligent and take pride in maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Able to work on your own initiative, as part of a team and under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform cooking tasks and other kitchen duties.
• Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas and dining room.
• Wash utensils, dishes and store them appropriately.
• Rotate stock and put away deliveries.
• Maintain personal hygiene to comply with Cygnet standards and food hygiene regulations.
• Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
