Job summary

Prime Life in Bristol is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support residents at Riversway Nursing Home. The role features regular set shifts across a 7-day week, with hours from 07:00 to 19:00 and 07:00 to 15:00.

You will work in a caring environment and may receive training for food hygiene and catering responsibilities. Ideal candidates show a genuine caring nature and a desire to make a real difference for residents, accepting DBS checks and activity in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience or willingness to gain Food Hygiene/Catering qualifications with training provided.
• Patient, understanding and respectful of residents’ needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals, snacks and beverages according to dietary requirements.
• Undertake quality checks on food and storage.
• Assist with dining service to provide a dignified experience.
• Maintain stock records and adhere to food safety policies.
• Order stock and keep kitchen tidy; support with deep cleaning.

The home has been specially designed to cater to the every need of 69 residents, living with a range of physical, age related and mental health conditions that require dignified support from our caring team. It is essential that candidates for this role are therefore patient, understanding and respectful of our resident’s individual abilities.

Responsibilities of our Kitchen Assistant include:

• Preparing meals, snacks and beverages in line with our residents’ dietary requirements
• Undertaking quality checks on food prepared and food being stored
• Assisting with food service to allow our residents a dignified dining experience
• Maintaining stock records in line with company policy and food safety regulations
• Ordering stock and maintaining accurate recordsMaintaining a hygienic and tidy kitchen and supporting with deep cleaning tasks

What we’re looking for in our Kitchen Assistant:

To be successful within this role, you will have a genuine caring nature and a desire to make a real difference for our residents. You will be an experienced Cook, ideally holding a Food Hygiene and/or Catering qualification, though this is not essential as Prime Life can support you with the training necessary for this role.
