Job summary

Cornerstone Healthcare Group in Bristol is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join The Burren, a purpose-built care location providing high quality support for residents with complex neurological, mental health and dementia needs. You will work 08:00–18:00, averaging 35 hours weekly, on a 3/4 shift pattern with weekend work.

The role involves assisting the catering service, preparing meals and drinks, cleaning equipment and surfaces, and complying with Health and Safety, COSHH, and fire procedures.

Qualifications

  • 12 months kitchen experience in the UK.
  • Clear communication with residents, colleagues and visitors (written and verbal).
  • Commitment to learning about residents as individuals.
  • Effective communication skills (essential).

Responsibilities

  • Support the catering service to residents in the home.
  • Prepare and set up meals and drinks.
  • Clean crockery, cutlery, utensils, containers and equipment.
  • Clean floors and surfaces and related equipment.
  • Comply with Health and Safety, COSHH, Environmental Health and Fire Procedures.

Cornerstone Healthcare is looking for experienced and passionate Kitchen Assistant to join our award-winning team at The Burren. The Burren is a brand-new purpose-built service location South Bristol, providing high quality care &supporting residents with varying complex neurological, mental health & dementia care needs provided in a comfortable and safe living environment. Our approach focuses on individualised care, considering the whole persons unique strengths and challenges, rather than just the diagnosis.

What do you need?
  • 12 months kitchen experience working in a similar role within the UK (essential)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, residents and their visitors
  • A commitment to learn about residents as individuals and to create ideas to improve life for the residents
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal (essential)
What hours will you work?

Shift times - 08:00 until 18:00.

Total average of 35 hours per week.

You will work on a 3/4 shift pattern and weekend work is required. Unpaid breaks.

What will you be doing?
  • Supporting the catering service to residents in the home.
  • Preparing and set up meals and drinks.
  • Cleaning crockery, cutlery, utensils, containers and small-scale equipment manually and through machine.
  • Cleaning floors, work surfaces, furnishings and related equipment manually and by use of machine.
  • Complying with regulations in respect of Health and Safety at work, COSHH, Environmental Health and Fire Procedures.
