Job summary

Avery Healthcare in Sheringham is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join West Wood Care Home. You'll support the catering function, help prepare meals, and maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen to deliver high-quality service for residents.

You will work as part of a caring team, hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, and comply with health and safety standards. DBS check will be required and eligibility to work in the UK must be shown.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrate high standards of personal hygiene.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and COSHH.
  • Be an efficient worker with a high level of sustained physical effort.
  • Show initiative and a flexible, positive approach to teamwork.
  • Exhibit a caring attitude towards residents.

Responsibilities

  • Understand safe food handling to ensure hygiene in all kitchen tasks.
  • Contribute to a supportive team and respond promptly to instructions.
  • Advise on supplies and quality, and assist with ordering when needed.
  • Treat residents and visitors with care and respect.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as Kitchen Assistant is tosupport

the catering function in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals, ensuring a high quality and comprehensive service is delivered to residents

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:
  • Understandingthe principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparations undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene.
  • Contributingfully to team working, responding positively tocolleagues,and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly.
  • Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
  • Actingaccordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.

Our ideal candidate must:
  • Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate anddemonstrateshigh standardsof personal hygiene.
