Job summary

Avery Healthcare is hiring a Kitchen Assistant for Scholars Mews Care Home in Stratford-upon-Avon. You will support kitchen operations, help prepare meals, and ensure high hygiene standards in a caring, team-oriented environment.

The role requires a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, awareness of Health and Safety, and a flexible, empathetic approach to residents. DBS disclosure will be required, and eligibility to work in the UK must be shown.

Qualifications

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate required.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen and respond to a demanding workload.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a caring attitude towards residents.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding the principles of safe food handling to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Contributing to team working and responding positively to colleagues.
  • Advising on supply and quality of items and ordering replacements.
  • Acting with care and respect towards residents and visitors.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

  • Understandingthe principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparations undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene.
  • Contributingfully to team working, responding positively tocolleagues,and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly.
  • Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
  • Actingaccordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.

Our ideal candidate must:

  • Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate anddemonstrateshigh standardsof personal hygiene.

  • Be an efficient worker, capable ofa high levelof sustained physical effort and able torespond to a demandingworkload.
  • Demonstrate initiative and display a positive and flexible aptitude to team working.
