Job summary

Bupa's St Mark's Care Home in Maidenhead is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team. You will help the chefs, plate meals, and keep prep areas clean while delivering a warm, resident-focused dining experience.

This permanent full-time role offers 40 hours a week, shifts from 8:30am to 7pm, and a starting hourly rate of £13.10–£14.10 depending on experience. A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and friendly team spirit are essential.

• A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen.

• Comfortable communicating with residents and team members.

Responsibilities

• Act as the link between the main kitchen and residents.
• Assist chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and keep prep areas clean and tidy.
• Monitor stock rotation and follow COSHH/HACCP guidelines.
• Assist with catering for events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties.

You’ll help us make health happen by:

• Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents
• Assisting the chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and ensure all preparation areas are kept clean and tidy
• Monitoring stock rotation, complying to company policies and procedures following all mandatory COSHH and HACPP guidelines
• Assisting with catering for special events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. You want to deliver an excellent service at each meal and make our residents feel at home. You'll understand the importance of maintaining high standards in and around the home, ensuring our residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience. Working with the wider kitchen and care home teams - you're comfortable communicating with others, cherishing the little moments with our residents.
