Job summary

Company Shop Group is seeking a Kitchen Assistant at their Head Office in Tankersley. The role involves serving from the café, ensuring high standards of customer service and food safety, and working as part of a team to meet daily targets.

Hours are 17 per week, working on a rota from 7am to 6pm midweek and 7am to 4pm weekends. The position emphasizes hands-on cooking, proper food labeling, and a strong focus on health and safety in a busy cafe/kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Store food correctly, including proper area and off the floor
• Cook and prepare all food in line with food safety guidelines
• Label all prepared food with date, ingredients and allergens
• Serve food to customers while cooking in line with demand
• Handle products carefully to keep them in the best condition
• Wash pots and clean as you go to maintain cleanliness
• Record all food temperatures in the kitchen log book
• Record fridge and freezer temperatures in the log book
• Display allergen signage relevant to products
• Use the till and process payments for food/drinks
• Follow Health and Safety procedures and encourage colleagues to do the same
• Ensure Food Safety and Hygiene procedures are followed, including temperature, allergen management

Join our team as a Kitchen Assistant based at our Head Office in Tankersley

As a kitchen assistant you are responsible for serving food from our café to customers while delivering the highest standard of customer service and food safety.

You will be involved in a team and be hands on and you will be committed to face challenges every day and work with the team to achieve results.

You will need to have a flexible and adaptable attitude- washing up will be a key part of the role.

Details of location and shift pattern:

Shifts/hours:

Hours of work: 17 hours per week working 2 out of 7 days on a rota basis. The hours of work are between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday and between 7am and 4pm Saturday and Sunday

Location: Head Office, Company Shop Limited, Wentworth Way, Wentworth Industrial Estate, Tankersley, S75 3DH

Salary: £12.75 per hour

• Ensure all food is stored correctly, including it is stored in the correct area and off the floor
• Cook and prepare all food in line with food safety guidelines
• Ensure all food that is prepared has the correct label, including date, ingredients and allergens
• Serve food to customers while cooking food in line with demand
• Handle products carefully to keep in the best condition
• Empty the waste bins as and when required and ensure the contents are disposed of safely and correctly
• Washing pots
• Record all food temperatures in the correct company log book
• Record all fridge and freezer temperatures in the correct company log book
• Display all allergen signage relevant to the correct product
• Clean and refill the coffee machine in line with guidelines
• Use the till and correctly process payments from customers when food or drinks are purchased
• Clean as you go using correct cleaning equipment and chemicals
• Ensuring that all Health and Safety procedures are always followed and encouraging colleagues to do the same
• Ensure all Food Safety and Quality/Hygiene procedures are always carried out in the kitchen and café to include temperature requirements, allergen management and good catering practises
• Undertake all relevant legal, mandatory and role specific training
• Active reporting of Health and Safety near misses and encouraging colleagues to do the same
