Job summary

Avery Healthcare is looking for a warm, enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join Ascot Grange Care Home in Sunninghill. You will support catering, assist with food preparation and maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen to provide high-quality meals for residents.

We value compassion, reliability and teamwork. A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is required and you will work in a supportive environment within Avery's growing network of care homes.

Qualifications

  • Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrates high standards of personal hygiene.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, MOVING and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
  • Be an efficient worker capable of sustaining physical effort and handling a demanding workload.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a positive, flexible aptitude to team working.

Responsibilities

  • Support catering function in food preparation and maintain a clean kitchen environment.
  • Ensure highest standards of hygiene in all food preparations.
  • Contribute to team working and respond to reasonable instructions promptly.
  • Advise on supply and quality of items and ordering of replacements.

About the Role

Your focus as Kitchen Assistant is to support the catering function in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals, ensuring a high quality and comprehensive service is delivered to residents. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding the principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparations undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene.
  • Contributingfully to team working, responding positively tocolleagues,and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly.
  • Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
  • Actingaccordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.
