Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of all food and beverages as directed, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and serve food in line with defined standards, following health, safety and hygiene guidelines.
  • Help maintain high kitchen standards to meet environmental health needs and sustain a 5-star hygiene rating.
  • Promote health and safety in all catering operations and participate in ongoing training.
  • Washing, peeling and preparing food ingredients; unloading supplies and organising stockroom; checking sell-by dates.
  • Clean kitchen appliances and equipment and monitor cooking times and temperatures.

The role of a kitchen assistant will be expected to:

Assist in the preparation of all food and beverages as and when required, as directed by the cook, assistant cook or manager, whilst ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

To prepare and serve food in accordance with defined standards and quality, working within CQC /OFSTED guidelines regarding current health safety and hygiene legislation and Health and Safety policy, with the aim of achieving high standards of customer care and good quality at low cost.

To help to maintain excellent standards within the kitchen to meet the needs of environmental health and to help maintain current hygiene rating of 5 star.

To promote and participate in a proactive approach to Health and Safety in the delivery of all catering operations.

To keep abreast of new initiatives, systems, and regulations through regular training.

Promote effective waste management within the kitchen.

This role is based on a Monday to Friday working pattern.

Kitchen Assistants perform a range of duties around the kitchen, including:

Washing, peeling and preparing food ingredients

Unloading fresh supplies and organising the stockroom

Checking sell-by dates and rotating food stock

Cleaning kitchen appliances and equipment

Observing cooking times and correct temperatures
