Job summary

YGC Partners Limited is seeking a part-time Kitchen Assistant to join the Pennine Garden Centre team. You will support the kitchen with food preparation, basic cooking, and maintaining a clean and safe environment in line with food safety standards.

The role involves stock checks, handling deliveries, and general duties to help the kitchen run smoothly. It requires reliability, teamwork and good communication, with shifts on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, kitchen or food preparation preferred.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable.
• Strong awareness of food safety, allergens and hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling and chopping ingredients.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness at all times.

Description

Are you an experienced Kitchen Assistant, looking for a challenge within a dynamic and enthusiastic team? Then you're the person we are looking for!

We are looking for someone to work alongside our team at Pennine Garden Centre to deliver a GREAT level of service. In this role you will be required to assist the kitchen team in preparing and cooking meals, keep the environment clean and safe by supporting the team with various duties such as mopping, washing up, cleaning surfaces and kitchen equipment and ensuring that all food safety and sanitation standards are met. You will also support with stock count and inbound deliveries.

This role will be working every Thursday and Friday from 8:00am until 4:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Kitchen Assistant you will be required to:

Skills Knowledge and Expertise:

The ideal Kitchen Assistant is someone who:

• Have previous experience in a catering, kitchen or food preparation role.
• Hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable).
• Have knowledge of food safety, allergens and good kitchen practices.
• Be organised, reliable and able to work independently.
• Work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Remain calm and efficient in a busy environment.
• Be committed to delivering high standards of quality and customer service.
