Position

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Location: West Ham United Training Ground-Rush Green.

Department: Operations

Salary- Competitive

An exciting opportunity has become available within the West Ham United Operations team for a proactive and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to support the Head Chef and wider kitchen team in the delivery of high-quality, nutritious food at our First Team training ground. This role is vital in maintaining the smooth daily operation of our kitchen, ensuring both food preparation and hygiene standards are consistently met to support elite player performance and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support with the preparation of meals, including washing, peeling, chopping, and cooking ingredients
  • Assist in preparing salads, snacks, and desserts in line with nutrition team requirements
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all kitchen and food prep areas
  • Wash and store kitchen utensils, dishes, and equipment appropriately
  • Set up and clear service counters and dining areas before and after meals
  • Monitor and manage ingredient storage and rotation, ensuring compliance with food safety protocols
  • Handle waste disposal and recycling in accordance with site procedures
  • Assist with stock distribution and receiving deliveries
  • Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH protocols consistently

Requirements

Person Specification:

Education / Qualifications / Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar kitchen, catering, or hospitality role (E)
  • Experience in high-profile or high-performance environments (D)
  • Understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices (E)
  • Awareness of COSHH regulations and safe use of cleaning products (E)
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Safety standards (E)
