Job summary

Healthcare Ireland Group is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for Magherafelt Manor, a residential care and nursing home. You will join the kitchen team to ensure high-quality, person-centred dining experiences and help meet residents’ dietary needs in a safe, respectful environment.

You will work under the Chef’s supervision, with opportunities for training and progression, in a home-focused setting that values dignity and comfort.

Qualifications

  • The Right to Work in the UK.
  • A good standard of both verbal and written English.
  • Previous catering, kitchen or food preparation experience.
  • Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all catering stock and equipment is correctly stored and accounted for per Assured Safe Catering standards.
  • Delivers meals and catering supplies to various areas within the unit in a timely manner.
  • Assists with basic preparation of food items under supervision.
  • Maintains cleanliness in kitchen, catering and servery areas in line with standards.
  • Delivers a clean and tidy environment across the home, complying with regulations.
  • Performs other duties as designated by the Chef or Cook.

The Home

Magherafelt Manor is a beautiful and modern residential care and nursing home situated in Magherafelt, County Londonderry, providing 24hour, professional and person-centred care for older people, including those living with dementia or in need of general nursing.

We pride ourselves on our kind and caring nature and uphold the highest levels of dignity and respect, no matter what. The home has the capacity for up to 64 people, across several homely units, decorated and furnished to offer a safe and comfortable home-from-home living environment for residents to enjoy. Magherafelt Manor has excellent amenities, including a café, comfortable lounges and dining spaces, enabling residents to maintain their independence as much as is possible, in the safest possible environment.

All our private, light and spacious bedrooms are fully-furnished, with the benefit of en-suite bathroom facilities. Residents are very welcome to bring their own home accessories and furniture, to personalise their space and make it their home.

We are dedicated to providing quality care for the residents living with dementia and for those who are cared for in their rooms; our whole team approach to wellbeing means that everyone feels part of our lovely, welcoming community.

The Role

The Kitchen Assistants in our Homes play a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our kitchens, ensuring that residents receive high quality meals and dining experiences. The role is essential to the wellbeing of our residents through the provision of high-quality, person-centred dining experiences.

Working as part of the Kitchen team, reporting to the Chef the role is about a lot more than preparing and serving meals – the Kitchen Assistant will support with ensuring the dietary needs of our residents are met in addition to contributing to a safe and positive working environment.

About The Role
Main Responsibilities
  • Ensures that all catering stock and equipment is correctly stored and accounted for in accordance with the company’s Assured Safe Catering standards.
  • Delivers meals and other catering supplies to various areas within the unit in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Under direction, assists with the basic preparation of food items.
  • Ensures all cleaning within the kitchen, catering and servery areas (as appropriate) is completed and complies with the company’s Assured Safe Catering standards.
  • Delivers and maintains a clean and tidy environment throughout the home, in line with operational standards and ensures that work processes comply with statutory regulations.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Chef or Cook.
