Job summary

The Sunrise Recruitment Ltd is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team in preparing and serving meals while upholding high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety. You will assist chefs with basic prep, maintain cleanliness, handle deliveries and help serve meals in a friendly, team-focused environment.

This role involves washing dishes, following safety procedures and working collaboratively to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently and on time.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping and preparing ingredients.
• Support the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring food is handled safely and presented appropriately.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, food preparation areas and storage spaces.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment, ensuring they are cleaned and stored correctly.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures, including safe food handling and appropriate storage practices.
• Receive, check and store food deliveries correctly, ensuring ingredients are organised and stored at the appropriate temperatures.
• Monitor kitchen supplies and report low stock levels or shortages to the relevant staff member.
• Assist with setting up and clearing dining areas, including tables and serving stations, where required.
• Dispose of food waste and rubbish safely, following the organisation’s waste management procedures.
• Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen team members to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently and on time.
