Job summary

Premier Lodge Day Nursery in Sidcup is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant to support the daily kitchen operations. You will help with basic food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, stock organisation and maintaining high hygiene standards.

You'll work as part of a busy team, follow food safety procedures and assist during service periods. The role is ideal for someone who takes pride in a tidy, safe kitchen and is keen to learn from the Head Chef and Kitchen Manager.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with basic food preparation (washing, peeling, chopping, portioning).
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots and kitchen equipment promptly and safely.
• Clean work surfaces, floors, storage areas and kitchen equipment.
• Follow food hygiene, allergen, health and safety, and cleaning procedures at all times.
• Store ingredients and supplies correctly, using stock rotation procedures.
• Help receive deliveries and check items against orders where required.
• Dispose of waste safely and keep bin areas clean and organised.
• Replenish kitchen supplies and notify a supervisor when stock is running low.
• Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
• Carry out other reasonable duties requested by the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
