Job description

In your role as a Kitchen Assistant at HC-One, you'll value one thing above all: kindness. It carries across every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Every person who works here understands that our Residents are people just like them, with their own stories to tell. By joining HC-One, you'll have a wonderful opportunity to give back to these individuals.

As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities will include helping to prepare and serve nutritious, healthy meals that residents will love. You'll demonstrate high standards in cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. Whether maintaining food supplies and fridge/freezer temperatures, showing new starters how to use equipment, or cleaning spilled food from inside the oven, you'll always prioritize Resident wellbeing.

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant with some kitchen experience. It is essential that you have either an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or the willingness to study for one. Good record-keeping and organizational skills are necessary, as well as the ability to follow recipes. When communicating with Residents or colleagues, you should be considerate and kind.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. It is important that you can recognize signs of possible abuse, harm, or neglect and know what actions to take if concerns arise. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and to undertake additional training as needed. You should also be able to seek advice and report concerns appropriately, escalating if necessary.

We will provide full training, offering a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you will have access to a variety of benefits supporting your physical and psychological well-being. Throughout your career as a Kitchen Assistant, we will invest in you, offering additional support and benefits such as:

  • Hourly rate subject to experience and qualifications.
  • Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
  • Free uniform
  • A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
  • Company pension scheme
  • 28 days annual leave including bank holidays
  • Group life assurance cover
  • Wagestream - financial wellbeing and flexible access to pay
  • Learning and development opportunities with support to achieve qualifications
  • GP online services for you and your children under 16
  • Learning from experienced colleagues in a supportive team
  • Colleague discounts at over 1600 high street stores
  • Free Employee Assistance Programme for physical, mental, and financial support
  • Recognition schemes like 'Kindness in Care' and Long Service Awards
  • Referral bonus scheme up to £1000 per successful hire
We are committed to inclusivity and ensuring our workforce reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and aim for a quick onboarding process from offer to start date.
