Job summary

Bupa Shockerwick House Care Home in Bath is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team and deliver a high-quality dining experience for residents.

The role involves assisting chefs, plating meals, and ensuring cleanliness while maintaining high service standards. 27 hours per week on a permanent basis, with hourly pay £13.30–£14.30 depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a kitchen and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Deliver excellent service at each meal and make residents feel at home.
  • Maintain high standards in the home for a pleasant dining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the link between the main kitchen and residents.
  • Assist chefs to plate meals and prepare food trolleys; keep areas clean.
  • Monitor stock rotation and follow COSHH/HACCP guidelines.
  • Assist catering for events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties.

Kitchen Assistant – Bupa Shockerwick House Care Home

Location: Lower Shockerwick, Bath BA1 7LL. CQC rating: Good. Carehome.co.uk rating: 9.6 /10.


Salary: £13.30 to £14.30 per hour depending on experience. Contract type: Permanent. Hours: 27 hours per week.

We are looking for an equally passionate Kitchen Assistant to join the team and help deliver an excellent dining experience for our residents.


Responsibilities


  • Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents

  • Assisting the chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and ensure all preparation areas are kept clean and tidy

  • Monitoring stock rotation, complying to company policies and procedures following all mandatory COSHH and HACPP guidelines

  • Assisting with catering for special events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties


Key Skills / Qualifications


  • A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

  • You want to deliver an excellent service at each meal and make our residents feel at home.

  • You’ll understand the importance of maintaining high standards in and around the home, ensuring our residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience.

  • Working with the wider kitchen and care home teams – you’re comfortable communicating with others, cherishing the little moments with our residents.
