Job summary

Academics is seeking a caring Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional learning needs at a Warrington junior school.

This part-time role (26 hours per week across four days, 8:30am–3:30pm) is a temporary/fixed-term contract for one year, starting Autumn Term 2026.

You will collaborate with teachers to help children access the curriculum, build confidence, and foster a safe, welcoming learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, preferably with additional or special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents.
  • Demonstrate positive behaviour management to support a calm learning environment.
  • Committed to safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies.
  • Willingness to participate in relevant training to support vulnerable pupils.

Responsibilities

  • Targeted 1:1 support for individual children with specific learning needs.
  • Supervise and support small groups inside and outside the classroom.
  • Provide pastoral care during the school day, including lunchtime supervision.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to strengthen core literacy and numeracy skills.

Your Role in Our School

Under the guidance of our teaching and senior leadership team, you will play a key role in making education accessible and enjoyable. Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Targeted 1:1 Support: Working closely with individual children who have specific learning and additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and build self-confidence.
  • Small-Group Guidance: Supervising and supporting small groups of pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Pastoral Care: Providing essential support during key parts of the school day, including lunchtime pupil supervision.
  • Collaborative Teaching: Partnering with class teachers to develop and strengthen pupils' core literacy and numeracy skills.
