Job summary

Wheelwright Lane Primary School is seeking an experienced Key Stage 2 Class Teacher to cover maternity leave on a three-day-per-week basis. The post is within a warm, supportive, one-form entry school committed to Be Kind. Be Safe. Be Fair.

You will plan, deliver and assess lessons, uphold safeguarding duties, and work collaboratively with SLT to maintain high standards of learning and well-being for pupils. Interviews on 26 November 2026 with a January 2027 start.

Responsibilities

• Teach a Key Stage 2 class for 3 days per week on a maternity cover.
• Plan, prepare and assess lessons to meet curriculum objectives.
• Maintain a warm, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support school priorities and learning behaviours across the week.
• Attend interviews and lesson observations as required.

Job Title – Key Stage 2 Class Teacher- Maternity Cover

Permanent/Fixed Term/Casual- Fixed Term covering maternity leave. (This post is not suitable for ECTs)
Working hours/FTE – Part time – 3 days per week / 0.60fte
Pay Scale – M1-M6
Period – From 04 January 2027 until 21st July 2027

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic class teacher to join our warm and welcoming one form entry school for a 3 day teaching role to cover a maternity leave.

Interview and lesson observation will take place on 26th November 2026. The successful teacher will be required to attend the Teacher Training Day on 04 January 2027 and ready to start in class on 05 January 2027.
