Key Account Manager East Germany & Austria (f/m/d) (REMOTE)

Key Account Manager East Germany & Austria (f/m/d) (REMOTE)

The Key Account Manager for East Germany & Austria (located in Eastern Germany) is responsible for increasing revenues and developing relationships with key accounts in the assigned territory. This experienced position is driving the development and execution of sales related to optical components/assemblies to ensure the achievement of sales targets. In this role, you proactively engage with established OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) customers and developing new prospects to position Edmund Optics’ manufacturing capabilities and address our customers’ specific needs. The Key Account Manager East Germany & Austria will work closely with other functional areas including the regional sales teams, marketing, regional and global optical components/solutions experts, and engineering to develop objectives and presentations.

Essential Functions:
  • Understand and monitor the market environment, including stakeholders that influence the industry, competition, suppliers, customers, regulation bodies, competitive technologies, and more.
  • Identify and prioritize relevant strategic customers, partnerships, networks, and opportunities.
  • Understand our key accounts’ business needs, challenges, and goals.
  • Act as the main point of contact for our key accounts, build trust and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers in purchasing, R&D, operations, and management.
  • Align the customers’ objectives with Edmund Optics’ solutions offering.
  • Develop long-term strategies for account retention and growth.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (product, marketing, R&D, etc.) to create and propose tailored solutions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (customer service, logistics, finance, etc.) to ensure client satisfaction (advocate for the client’s needs internally).
  • Lead bids and contracts (re-)negotiations.
  • Prepare regular reports, performance metrics, and forecasts for internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at customers, at fairs, and networking events.
Qualifications:

Your profile:
  • Degree in engineering or in a scientific field (physics, optics, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering).
  • Product, technology, market knowledge around optical components/assemblies or its applications.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in technical sales, business development, or key account management in optics, photonics, or vision industries.
  • Experience in the assigned territory and/or business development.
  • Strong analytical skills and creative thinking capabilities to understand how to convert a customer need to an optical/photonics solution in order to foster future revenue growth.
  • Fluency in English and German, written and verbal; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in working within an international team.
  • Willing to travel within sales territory and internationally (regular customer visits).
