Job summary

Renfrewshire Council is seeking a Justice Officer based at Paisley Sheriff Court with responsibilities across Renfrewshire. You will case manage service users under Structured Deferred Sentences and Diversion, supervise bail conditions, and support social workers in both custody and community settings.

The role requires commitment to social work values, a relevant qualification (HNC or SVQ), ability to work flexibly including evenings/weekends, and willingness to travel across Renfrewshire.

Justice Officer

Based at Paisley Sheriff Court and service wide

This is an exciting opportunity to join our developing early intervention services. You will case manage service users subject to Structured Deferred Sentences and Diversion, supervise bail conditions, encourage voluntary involvement with those released from short sentences, and support social workers in their work with statutory service users. This will include all offence types i.e. including sexual and violent offences.

It is essential that you have a commitment to social work values and an HNC or SVQ in criminal justice, social care or relevant qualification. Knowledge and experience of working in a social work setting, co-working and multi-agency working are required, and effective assessment, communication, report writing, and IT skills are also essential.

Although based in Paisley, the ability to travel throughout Renfrewshire is also essential, with a driving license desirable.

You must have the ability to work flexibly as there could be evening and weekend work as required.

It is desirable you have experience of working with clients who have addiction, housing, and employability issues, as is experience of working with justice service users in custody and the community.

Experience of writing reports for court is also desirable.
