As a Junior Technical Support Engineer, you will serve as the first point of contact for technical enquiries from internal teams, external customers, and field engineers. Your primary responsibility will be supporting the Voltage Optimisation (VO) assets deployed in the field and assisting the Service team with Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs), repairs, and technical investigations. You will also provide first-line (Tier 1) support for deployed Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), assessing cases to determine whether escalation to Tier 2 support is required for more in-depth investigation and remedial action. This role requires a firm understanding of electrical and electronic engineering principles, troubleshooting skills. as well as an understanding of control systems and communication protocols.

Progression:

After becoming a subject matter expert on VO systems you will progress to gaining in-depth knowledge of BESS. In this advanced capacity, you will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, and networking issues that are escalated to you. This includes analysing system logs, error reports, and user feedback to identify root causes, as well as using advanced tools and techniques to replicate and troubleshoot reported problems effectively.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Remotely assist engineers and overseas partners to diagnose faults using standardised company methods.
  • Analyse system logs, error reports, and user feedback to identify and resolve root causes of issues..
  • Determine if issues require escalating to Tier 2 or beyond for further support.
  • Communicate directly with customers to gather additional details, provide updates, and explain solutions.
  • Maintain a professional and empathetic approach when dealing with frustrated or escalated customers.
  • Document and record all faults received.
  • Share insights and recurring issues with cross-functional teams to improve products and services.
  • Assist with deployment of product updates, patches, and upgrades as needed.
  • Monitor system performance and identify potential technical risks before they become customer-facing issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or an associated discipline.
  • 18th Edition

Experience

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with PLCs, Networking protocols and electrical engineering
  • Proven experience troubleshooting on electrical and electronic systems.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

This role may involve occasional evening or weekend work to assist in field operations.Hybrid/remote options available depending on workload.
