JUNIOR TECHNICAL OPERATOR Focus: Video & Broadcast studio Location: Craft London Report to: Studio Technology Manager Contract: Immediate 6 MONTH FTC in view to extend Hybrid working from 135 Bishopsgate on a shift pattern between 9am-7pm Mon - Fri Please only apply if you have the rights to work in the UK and are able to work onsite at our London Bishopsgate office. YOUR ROLE As our Junior Technical Operator, you'll be a vital and developing hub supporting our dynamic broadcast and digital department. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills and learn from experienced professionals. You will assist our talented editors, VFX artists, audio engineers, colourists, and producers by managing crucial technical aspects of their workflow. Your responsibilities will be diverse and will expand as you learn, from supplying final master files and transcoding media to project setup, ingesting rushes, and sourcing materials. This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You'll thrive under tight deadlines and quick project turnarounds, gaining invaluable experience and developing your skills in an exciting, cutting-edge media environment with dedicated training and support. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES (You will receive training and support to become proficient in these areas) MEDIA & DATA MANAGEMENT oAssist with data wrangling, learning to ensure media integrity from ingest to delivery. oSupport the ingest of camera rushes, transcode to proxy files, generate camera reports, and perform sound syncing. oHelp organise and prepare media for Adobe Premiere Pro projects. oLearn to manage projects, metadata, and media assets effectively. oBecome familiar with efficiently utilising cloud & SAN storage, accurately tracking project status, and managing archives. QUALITY CONTROL & DELIVERY oDevelop skills in performing thorough Quality Control (QC) of material entering and leaving the department, with guidance. oLearn to generate and deliver broadcast-quality files for playout, ensuring adherence to technical specifications. oGain experience in encoding and transcoding media to and from a wide range of file formats for various ingest and delivery requirements. WORKFLOW & COMMUNICATION oMaintain consistent and open communication with producers and other team members throughout the production pipeline. ESSENTIAL SKILLS & FOUNDATION •Good working knowledge of video editing software, particularly Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. •A foundational understanding of, or a strong demonstrated interest in, TV Broadcast Standards and workflows (further training will be provided). •A keen eye for detail, essential for learning and performing Quality Control (QC) processes (training on specific broadcast standards and delivery specifications will be provided). •The ability and enthusiasm to learn how to prepare media for editors, primarily within an Adobe Premiere Pro environment. •Eagerness to be trained on conforming projects for colour grade and online edit, preferably in both Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. •Proficiency with macOS operating system. DESIRABLE SKILLS (ADVANTAGEOUS) •Basic knowledge of Adobe After Effects. •An interest in the advertising-focused broadcast environment. •Familiarity with Microsoft 365 suite. •Awareness of content delivery platforms (e.g., Frame.io, Signiant, Aspera, FTP, Azure, Egnyte, LucidLink). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS •Premiere Pro Skills •A really good understanding of Mac based software •Ambition and drive to carve a career in the technical side of production WHO YOU ARE •You are a highly organised individual with a proactive approach and a strong desire to learn. •An excellent communicator, both written and verbal, comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team and, with guidance, independently on your own initiative. •You possess emerging problem-solving skills and can manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with support from the team. •A genuine passion for broadcast technology, post-production workflows, and a keen ambition to develop new skills. •You maintain a friendly, approachable, and professional manner.
