Job summary

The Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff is seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join our Culinary team. You will support the delivery of exceptional dining experiences, uphold high food quality standards, and help run the kitchen day-to-day alongside a talented brigade.

Whether you are moving up from Chef de Partie or already a Junior Sous Chef, this permanent role offers 37.5 hours per week at £13.76 per hour plus service charge, with excellent benefits and career development within The Celtic Collection.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef in a quality hotel/restaurant.
• Passion for fresh, high-quality food and guest experiences.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene, food safety and HACCP procedures.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Experience supporting and motivating kitchen teams.
• Positive attitude with a desire to learn and progress.

Responsibilities

• Support the Sous Chef and Head Chef in the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Assist with preparation, cooking and presentation of dishes to high standards.
• Help supervise and guide junior kitchen brigade members.
• Ensure food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards are met consistently.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock rotation.
• Minimise food waste through effective stock management and portion control.
• Maintain quality and consistency across all offerings.
• Step up to lead sections and support operations in the absence of senior chefs.
