Job summary

Rockfish, a renowned coastal restaurant group, is seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. You will cook with the freshest seafood, support the Sous and Head Chef, and mentor junior chefs to uphold Rockfish standards across service shifts.

You will work in a vibrant hospitality environment, benefiting from training, career progression, and a supportive team culture that values care, community and sustainability.

• Experience in hospitality/kitchen environments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare seafood dishes to Rockfish standards.
• Support Sous Chef and Head Chef, stepping up to lead service in absence.
• Mentor Junior Chefs and develop kitchen skills and confidence.
• Coordinate with front-of-house to ensure a seamless dining experience.

What to expect?

This package is £33.5k per annum basic plus approximately £5k tronc per annum + tips and overtime!

• We pay salaries monthly but tronc and tips on a weekly basis via our external troncmaster Tipjar, - so you can earn and access your cash quicker!

• This is a casual role working is across 5 days, Monday - Sunday availability required.

• We're are lunch and dinner dining restaurant meaning our teams work a variety of daytime and evening shifts determined by the rota.

• Christmas off, our sites are closed Christmas eve, Christmas Day & Boxing Day

• We'll provide the Chef whites!

• We're not about extra hours, but if they're ever needed, overtime is paid.

As a Rockfish Junior Sous Chef, you’ll cook with the freshest seafood, ensuring every dish meets Rockfish standards, support the Sous and Head Chef and step up to lead service in their absence. You’ll mentor Junior Chefs, helping them develop their skills and confidence, maintain high kitchen standards from food safety to resource management, and work closely with the front of house team to create an unforgettable dining experience for our guests.
