Job description

Junior Solicitor – Property Risks and Coverage Birmingham

At HF we do things differently. We recognise the value of our employees and understand that they set us apart from our competitors.

Due to growth, we’re looking for a Junior Solicitor to join our brand-new Birmingham-based Property Risks and Coverage team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team - currently 2 Partners and a Senior Associate in Birmingham - and help drive our exciting growth journey!

What will you be doing?

The team acts for a number of the UK’s leading property insurers, and deals with all manner of claims arising out of fires, floods, escapes of water, storms, explosions, vehicle impacts, and any other way in which properties get damaged. Some of the team’s work is high-profile, and high value (running into multi-millions of pounds).

You will conduct thorough investigations, collaborating with policyholders, loss adjusters, and legal experts. Your research will involve analysing case law and statutes, while your writing will produce high-quality advice and correspondence.

You'll interact effectively with clients and third parties through various communication channels and handle litigation in the Technology and Construction Court or Commercial Court.

The role will involve a mixture of supporting Partners on the team’s highest value cases and handling a caseload of multi-track property damage claims (both claimant and defendant work). Therefore, you must be happy working individually as well as part of a team.

What do I need?

Ideally, you’ll be a qualified lawyer (0–4-year PQE) with litigation experience in property damage, or an overlapping practice area such as professional indemnity, construction or commercial litigation. Strong file management skills, including disciplined time recording and financial hygiene, are essential for success in this role.

You will need to be technically strong as well as having effective communication, proven negotiation skills, and a commercial mindset.

We believe in a work-life balance that suits you! Join us on a hybrid basis at our Birmingham office, where collaboration and creativity thrive. The rest of the week is yours to work from the comfort of your home—because we know that flexibility fuels productivity!

What’s in it for you?

This is a real chance for you to shine and enhance your career in law. We have a formidable reputation for developing and nurturing employees, there are many opportunities for progression for you to have a rewarding and prosperous career at HF.

We know that you’ll have commitments outside of work, which is why we offer flexible start and finish times. We’re always looking to recognise and reward our people for the work they do. Here are just a few of the benefits you’ll have access to, as part of our team:

  • 25 days’ annual leave (in addition to public holidays), increasing to 30 days with service
